Deglazing a cyl
Didnt get much info on my little 2L thread so I'll ask this here.
Got a perfect runnin 150 , great compression etc. Motor is stripped down and has some chest mods , exhaust dump mods ,plates matched , no porting to cyls, thinkin ov goin ahead and doin a square port to pistons, gonna reuse old pistons. no (previous heat) issues and everything moves like just installed. What hone do I need to deglaze for new rings?? This is a free running mota , not afraid to experiment, gonna reuse most everything with serious cleaning , need a hone tho. What do I need to get?

I do not have a bore guage and have thought bout it also but with it being in such good shape , just wanna de glaze and new rings , budget/experiment build. I'm not gonna worry with little extra clearance, cyls dont have wear Marks, scuffs nothin still has cross hatch , truthfully I could put it back together with used rings and still have 120lbs , not a hi tech build. it's a spare powerhead for when (if) sumthin does go bad with one of the good powerheads.
But yes I still want it to run gud (strong) ,

This ...
You can buy one of these on flea-bay for around $100
If you can look at a block, rub your finger in the bore .. and decare it as being "gud" .. then 2.5, you're better than me ..
The Sunnen book call's for a bore finish between 220 and 280 when using a chrome faced ring.
Cylinder wall finish and ring seal kind of fall into the category of ... the amount of effort you put into it .. is proportional to the results you will get out of it ...

this one works pretty good. JSRE cylinder straightener is also essential.death is certain; life is not

The bore guage will b a gud investment for me so I'll get one with a hone. But say ball hone for 2.0 wont work with 2.5 will it?

Good price on that dial bore gauge ...
I've got a "bore jack" they are meant for NIC plated aluminum cylinders .. I doubt you could even fit the tool in a 2.0L sleeve, let alone move it ..
