    Reman transmissions

I am looking at putting a reman transmission in a 2010 suburban. Any thoughts on Jasper or other manufacturers? Or any other suggestions? Hate to spend the money, but the truck is in real good shape otherwise and prices on newer ones are scary.

I would have a local shop do a rebuild or a trans rebuilt of their choosing. That way they pull and replace if it fails. Other option is to find a junkyard unit and cross your fingers...Jasper has a bad rep down here.

I have a local rebuilder but I need to decide how much longer I want to keep the truck. Also considering the warranty coverage both duration and location.

Check with a GM dealer; the last time I did it the factory reman was cheaper, had something like 29 "updates", and had a better warranty.

OK, checked around and went with Aamco. Our local Aamco is a large and established franchise and the owner is well respected around here with respect to truck, RV, and commercial work. He recently did one for my Godson that turned out very well. OEM reman was going to be $41-4600 depending on the dealer. I got a rebuild and reman torque converter, and new cooling lines, for $3400. 18mo/18K mi warranty. So far it seems fine, but time will tell. If anything remarkable happens I will post. Thanks guys for the feedback.

Just a follow-up AAMCO trans is doing fine. Some towing and a trip to their mountains. About 14000 mile so far.

When I worked for GM their SRTA rebuilds had a better/longer warr.than the original. Also if there was an issue other than maybe an external leak it didn't get repaired it got replaced,no questions asked. And you know there's a dealer every 50 feet if you ever ddo have an issue.
If I knew it was going to last this long I would have taken better care of it.

    Chris
