After all this time and effort maybe try reversing the whole thing and try to magically pull that f’in prop through the bullet.

Well, thats good! At least you can save the prop (after cleanup and etc) and re hub it. Just for kicks a long time ago me a kid working the gas station (middles 60's) a old school wrench (Mentor) told me when a squeaky older rubber bushing front or rear end making noise, squirt some brake fluid at it and it should go away. Worked!
So try and soak some in there and see what happens? Can't hurt...(but will F/U paint.)Last edited by Robby321; 01-11-2020 at 09:25 PM.

You know I just thought the screw puller doesn’t work because the legs are touching the rear of the hub, more or less it has to squeeze the hub to pull the prop off.
Will the hooks fit fit inside the hub over the support struts between the outer and inner parts where the exhaust flows.

Well at this point, the prop is damaged. No reason to try to save it. Like it has been mentioned many time over and over again. Take the grinder out with the zip cut and cut it off. Case close.
You'll be putting just as much money into it as picking up a good used one.

So after my last dosage of heat and wheel puller and getting about a 1/2" gap between the housing and the prop, then leaving it there for a few days with tension, I tried to turn the puller again... and the threads stripped. Maybe a little lube on them would have helped that a bit.
In any case, I then argued with myself whether to replace the puller with a new one and give that a shot, spend the $75 (inc. tax) on a hydraulic puller and give that a shot, or go to the sure thing of cutting it off.
Well I spent the $75 and gave the hydraulic wheeler puller a shot. Here is the result:
The End.

Great Job! I've got a similar one on an inline case. I bought one of the proptopus pullers (they seem to be out of business) and had real trouble getting it to stay straight. It's been sitting in a corner of the garage for a few (maybe six or seven?) years under tension. The last time I looked at it, it hadn't moved. I did drill several holes in the brass hub hoping it would come loose. You've rejuvenated my interest and come spring, I'll be giving this another go. It's a stainless prop so I've been trying not to damage it with the chains.

Shaft splines dont look to bad , wonder what had a hold? I got a prop I pulled off a 2.0 150 and I've tried 3 different lowers and it wont go back on splines ? The hub is.in "gud" shape. Splines look fine not crusty , not twisted , new grease , bout 8th in maybe 1/4 and stops.

Now put that prop on the sale thread and rate it high... "never been wet... holds good... good splines"

I actually found the stainless to be pretty tough. Maybe the chains made some impressions but really not too bad. In the picture below most of the damage was from hitting it directly with a hammer or other metal object. Getting it straight may help. For some reason the hydraulic puller I used aligned better that the manual one.
