High carbon stainless is very hard up to 65r my custom knives are cryo to 62-63r

usa requires 13% or more Crome to be called stainless.

Chepstainless is often a sainma (sp?) type (basically electoplated but not) bust through it and regular steel inside rust.

More on point though is the shaft is galled as you say or corroded and shot anyway. So cut or pull a new shaft will be needed.

Well, nowhere did I say it's galled, hell it's not even mine! Said possible to get galling on pulling it with hydraulic puller. Also most shafts are 316 (guess there). I was simple trying to tell about galling and SS. You can go a thousand pages discussion the properties of all steel, as what other elements added. And besides, why cut the shaft when you can cut the prop off and see if it's still good. And we aint talking knifes here but a motor prop shaft.

I have moved-the-immovable with a combo of ATF/Acetone, Ottawa hydraulic puller and an air hammer/chisel. Using all of them together along with patience has always worked for me.

True metal urgy is definitely a thousand pages.

    Agreed with cutting

theirs also also quite a few brass hubs which throw in another whole mess.

As much trouble as hes having im tempted to think a flow torque shaft and standard hub or such got mixed or possibly A 15 or 19 spline. And it was jusst made to fit. Iirc one of the flow torque is longer one of them you can get a standard hub nearly all the way on. Or a short ft was on hit something and a standard was forced on over a twisted spline.

I think this is a great possibly.."Or a short ft was on hit something and a standard was forced on over a twisted spline". All kinds of crap could have happened.

After soaking in ATF-Acetone for many days, and then keeping maximum presure on the puller for several days there is some sign of movement as you may be able to tell from the photos. There is now a gap between the prop and the housing.

I took it one step futher by heating with my oxy-acetylene torch under pressure, and besides the flames, smoke, and making my basement smell, I did hear a few clunk noises like something may be freeing. For now I'll keep the pressure on it, maybe try to some more penetrating oil in spots I couldn't reach before, then heat it up again later.

Hard to tell, but seems like prop moving but over the rubber and not the inner thats on the shaft? There is rubber between the two right? I run solid props over hub exhaust. Damn, seems hear of a lot of spun props and prop comes off easy. Ya got one stubborn SOB there!
