Another impressive milesstone for the new 4 strokes

Performance boat center topped the 120 mark this week in a 420 Wright/Performance. The motors were turning the max rpm of 6450 so with a taller set of propellers we can expect to see this boat to start approaching the mid 120s. This was dream land for outboard powered cats of this size only a year ago. These are really exciting times for this new 4.6 platform and the achievements that continue to be conquered.

Impressive. Curious what it would take to push that boat to those speeds with I/O power.

    W/900 HP in a 42’ boat....?

    Wow!
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

The Wright/Performance hulls have consistently proven to be the fastest. They ran a 36 to 130 with 450s, their 32 has seen 126 with 400 Verados, and the 32 has run low to mid 20s with 300xs motors. There are several 36s being rigged with 450s, 32s being rigged with 450s, and 32s being rigged with the new 300R motors. 130 is going to be the new "Norm" as scary as that may be. This is the stuff that we have been talking about for the last year and its all being laid down the on first generation of this platforms release--we are just getting started.

This is all well and good but I lost interest in these boats when they started to cost more than both of my houses combined. I’ll stick with my sub $100k toys.

I agree with you that they are crazy expensive but its still cool to go for a ride in and watch things progress. I remember buying my first house when I was 19 and saying to myself 'how the hell am I going to make these payments"-today, it doesn't seem like much. Everything is relative and to a lot of the guys that buy these boats the money is what we would consider a good dinner to be. I have never been one to dislike seeing success but rather learning from the guys that make it and striving to have a taste of it. I really wonder what top level outboard performance will be in two years.
