NB sneakers..

So kids seemed to think telling me my new balance sneakers were dad sneakers like it's an insult/joke..
Asked them how much did you pay for your basketball sneakers(over $145)and when was the last time you played.. said I know because you can't..
Told them these are really comfortable and got them for $25..
Told them when you grow up stop being sheep you'll know the $110 better spent on boat parts!

Got some made in America N/B shoes. So much better than the china/bangladesh ones.....Did cost 100 bucks though. The chineese ones will have the sole fall off way before the tops even get dirty.....

In 1982 I bought my first pair of New Balance, They were a light greyish color mesh & swede combo sortof. They were just starting the model number thing. NB were just starting to come on strong in sales then. Think I paid $84.00 for them. I myself thought I was a bit crazy for doing so, but I had some $ burning a hole in my pocket then, so I got me a pair. They were like walking on a cloud, compared to everything else I ever had prior. I was on my feet all day working, and they were fantastic. Have been a believer of spending a few dollars more on good shoes, of any kind, ever since.

Actually just looked wanted to make sure all three are made in USA.. the $25 pair I had on I got on eBay thru wholesale (why they were $25 don't know)
The other two pairs I have were actually $45 but still not $145
they do have more expensive pairs of New Balance but I'll take these they last just as long and they feel really comfortable the most expensive pair of sneakers was seventy-five bucks

and yeah that's why I won't buy Nike or anything like that they are all made in China and charge ridiculous amount of money.

one thing I have learned about buying these type of shoes, whatever your favorite flavor or brand is...is not to stock up on them, just because you are going to get a better deal, or whatever. the soul material gets hard with age, sitting in your closet all those extra months(or more, lol) waiting to be worn. sometimes that's what they are selling on-line, or your favorite small running shoe store, on sale. my wife flys all over the country running in those crazy marathons & I have learned a bit from her about shoes. she's on a plane every 2 weeks to run. nutz.

We had a sports store close up here many years ago, forget the name, but back then I was wearing Reeboks for work. They were normally about $50. Store had a closing sale, bought ten pairs for $15 a pair......

What FUJIMO says above is real..I got a pair of nice hunting boots from bass blow shop. After sitting in the closet for a year the soles just fell apart. Got to looking closer at the label. Yep, made in chiner....This started my hate of chinese stuff.

Oh yea there's those financially inept bone heads too..
Meaning grew up with Mommy and Daddy buying whatever they wanted..
Hell my sister in-law bought them sneakers that were over $250..They grew up with NO IDEA of financial responsibility..
Sister in-law would spend money like it's water(she does have plenty of money but told her your raising him with no idea of financial responsibility kid had no idea)
Then when one of them turned 18 of to college and she couldn't figure out why the credit card was always maxed out.. lol
He woke up one day to one rude awakening!

Kids will grow up with $600 a month new car payments and living in a trailer. I always said "It's not how much you make but what you do with it" Never gonna get ahead spending foolishly

This is part of the problem we're facing as a country now....mom and dad buy kids $100 pairs of shoes...then when they finally move out at age 35 or up, they want the govt to pay for their crap

Definitely not in my house! I'm mean I would give my kid money but he had to work for it just like I did.
I started working at 12.
And he started working for me at 13 and I didn't go easy on him, but didn't torture.. to much lol
When he moved for school went to work for someone else and I met his boss he said he was the best damn worker he had seen in a long time...

Although he did spend bit more money on cars than he should have but couldn't complain about that seeing as I was doing the same thing with him....

Couldnt have said it better myself, amen. i got one age 38, just like his mom. not my DNA. I waste nothing. if my work boots fail, i use zip ties better than new! liquid nail my soles if i need to. i got a pair of sperry deck shoes, stitched with baby zip ties, they just wont die! the holes in my duds are real, not from any MALL.
