Thumbs down They never EVER give up!

This is a partial list of registrations on the site that represents a 12-hour period, believe it or not. Those are all spammers looking to get into the forums to do whatever illicit stuff they want to do. Among this never-ending avalanche of fake registrations are of course legitimate ones, and I have to manually look at them and activate the legitimate ones. Sounds fun, right? This site has always been a nice juicy target for spammers, and that required me to begin manually approving new registrants a few years back. These spammer registrations are always deleted, not simply banned. I do that because I do not want spammers to artificially inflate the site's membership, because even if they are banned, they will count as a member.

Some of the registrations are obviously spammers and can be removed right away, while others need to have their IP address location checked (most are from Russia, China, and India).

My real frustration is reserved for email accounts like Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail, and Outlook for making it so easy for these clowns to register. Many are using automated software. Why can't they get a handle on this?

I also wanted to say thank you for all of the supports here. It really does help immensely, especially now. I am always here if there is anything I can help with or if you have ideas that would make this site better.

    Greg

The struggle is real and the vast majority of those are from spam bots and porn spam bots. HeliFreak had them as well. Crazy. Way worse than the RoboCall epidemic. Good work Greg.

I don't understand what good it would do for them to sign up for a forum like this? What are they trying to accomplish?

Looks like you could block a couple of first/second octet sets right off the bat. That sucks. Thanks for keeping on keeping on.

Holy Crap! That's ridiculous. I mean, some of the user names made me do a double-take.
I really don't understand why they want to get onto the site anyway? Are they looking for email addresses to sell?
