I had a friend that had a Eliminator Scorpion with a Johnson V8 on it. His boat, the way he had it set up favored round ear, high rake propellers like Choppers and Mazco RE 3's. Boat acted like it needed a little help to carry the bow, likes to run pretty flat. Not sure of his gear ratio but he ran a 28 and 30 Chopper on his. He experimented with some cleavers but his set up didn't seem to like them on the Scorpion. My buddy wasn't out to make the fastest pass, I always felt like the boat would have run faster than low 80's but he was happy. I had a 21 Eliiminator Daytona at the same time. Always loved the lines of the Scorpion thought it should have been Eliminators most popular boat, Bob Leach told me at a boat show years ago it never was a real big seller. Started out as a jet boat hull from them.

Your set up answer will depend on what mold it came out of. Eliminator was disspleased with the performance of the Scorpion outboard so they inlisted the help of noted boat designer Ron Baker to make changes to the bottom. The results were impressive so a mould was built and boats from it were made in Shawano, Mish.
I don`t know how many of those were built and they are different. The Shawano boat has way more bow lift.

I have a 1987 with a 2.4 EFI BP, best top end with a 28 for me is 92 to 95. I also run a annual radar run, and in 1000ft I run low 80's with a best of 87. Of course a 2.5 would be better. I remember a guy showed up at the radar run with a 300 on his scorpion and it was at least 10mph off pace. Mine was made in Wisconsin.
