Just picked up 225 Promax for Viking
Picked up this 225 promax last weekend from a fellow member here. I dropped a piston on my 2.4 a couple months ago so the search for new power was on. Didnt want to buy something without seeing it 1st hand so local was preferred. Saw this posted here and started messaging. 3 days later it was in my truck bed. Story was he had it on a tunnel boat and sold the hull and kept all the rigging and motor. Been sitting in garage for 4 years fogged. And needed it gone due to moving out of state. Seller seemed very honest . We started the motor and got it up to temperature. All good and shifted well and smoked a lot upon start up burning out the fogging oil.
Got lots of the rigging too including.complete tilt hydraulic NEW system hot foot with cables gauges wiring harness jackplate and pump shop manual 24chopper 26 chopper and 29SRX all for 5K

Yes the 150 ran strong and flawless for 3 years at 6000-6500 every time out. But stuffed a piston and cracked the sleve and block last run.
The lower unit on the Promax will be replaced hopefully with sportmaster. Anyone wanna trade for some rigging?

When getting a motor that's been sitting for 3-4 years it started rite up and came to temperature. Is there a need to send off the injectors or ecu for cleanup and testing? I derailed the vst and was very clean fuel that came out already. But what else should I do ?

I would send the injectors off to be cleaned. Bud Conner has one of those flow meter cleaning machines, FYI. Check the rubber hoses and that would be it besides water pump, filter(s) and a good greasing.
Those are great motors. Almost the same ports as a 245/260. Makes about 245 stock at least.
Congrats!!!

Dont know what all has been done to the motor. It looks to have been split due to some gray sealant at the case half. Oil injection removed can is gone and mid drilled.
Haven't pulled the heads off yet. Buddy is coming over with leak down tester. Well get that done then pull heads and look around. .
What is stock port height on this 225?

Those are relief holes in your leg for a bit more sound and exhaust relief in the leg. Mercury commonly did that in the 245/260 motors. Your liner is probably removed or they mounted the PM powerhead on a 245/260 midsection with 2pc plate which is good.
According to your PH photo you are running a 2pc cooling so all is correct there.

Pulled the heads off to take a look around and saw this on all the exhaust ports. They arnt a smooth round exit. They all have this extra cut in the top of them. Is this stock? What is this for?

I don't know? Looks like some sloppy port deburring/champhering. All though this was a high performance motor, I don't think it got the attention the nic motors received.
Those numbers look fine!!! So does the cross hatch in the cylinder. Run it!!!
