    300x tuner into a 300xs ?

    Hi,

I can buy a 300X exhaust tuner from a friend is it possible to run this into my 300xs to get a better sound, and maybe it helps for mid range ? Have 1.3 dbr flash and light weight flywheel, or do I need to flash ecu again to run this tuner?

I checked the parts list from my 300xs and saw a insert above cavication plate holes (number 33) somebody knows whats the meaning of it?

    Thanks,
    Kind regards,
    Corne

not sure about the fitment... but TARVER PERFOMANCE MARINE is building an adapter plate to drop an 300XS on a 2.5 mid and the tuner design is like the 300x motor... tested and saying he gained performance

could maybe contact him for more info

i have a hydrotec tuner and i ran a 250xs before and i replaced it with a 300x powerhead. the only downside of the tuner is a bit of hesitation at take off, probably because of the lower exhaust pressure it creates because it isnt going down directly to the lower unit..

its also 10lbs lighter then the stock one..

Nice so you can run other tuners without another ECU flash? Have already 1.3 flash. It runs perfect now but friend have a spare stock 300 X tuner so thought maybe it let my 300xs breath better if it fits, don't know the exact difference between the tuners.

i never seen a X and XS tuner side by side but they cant be much different. if i was to do the job i'd opt for the DBR one since you have the tune already

.did you look up the price on the exhaust plate oem gaskets?!? there insane! you wont want to swap tuners around after you find out imo!

If you run the compressor cooling return line to the adapter plate ... then you need to make sure your tuner has this "dump" hole on the opposite side of the poppet valve ..

I would imagine that your PCM was flashed for a free-flowing exhaust / cowling .
Your best bet is to call / E-mail them to find out exactly what was done to your box. None of them ever seem to come with a spec sheet covering modifications and parameters ...

PS ... #33 is a big azz cork in the exhaust.

The tube welded to the plate reduces the amount of exhaust that travels up the backside to exit above the waterline. We have to have 300HP outboards so quiet that we can hear our guest's complain about the wind blowing in their hair ...
Even if you don't run a tuner ... throw that POS away .. and add some "cats-eye" holes on the side and a big one on the back .. then you'll have 90% of what came stock on a "X" can ...
