My math says that the “455 hp” cal got him right at 400. Id be interested to see if the Simon 400 hp cal is THE merc 400r cal copied. I would trust that more than a custom cal, especially if it performed the same. Also note that he’s running the 5.44 HD lower unit (not HDSM) which is purported to hit a wall around 80, so that could be limiting his results.

My buddy’s 24 motion has been 96 with twin 300hp verados 5.44 cases without nosecones. The boat is 1000lbs heavier than my 24 skater so it will never be a 110mph boat like you would expect but with some setup there’s no 80mph “wall”. The hd sm is the same diameter it’s all about big diameter and getting them 2.5”+ above. If it’s not in the water it doesn’t matter how big the case is

I wonder what his motion would run with a surfacing lower unit.

We did a 340 flash on a 225 Verado with the large gear case on a Playcraft Daytona series 22Ft.. Boat with 250 Pro xs light would run 59 but Verado with the larger case only ran 53 after flash 64 great gain and the boat is a little faster than 300xs boat .

It looks like they have tunes available for the new 4 strokes. Curious whether the flash program locks itself to one motor like a lot of the car tuners do since I have 2 motors (300R and 250 ProXS) I'd be interesting in "tuning". It also appears you can flash back to stock, I wonder if Mercury has gotten sophisticated enough to be able to detect it even when flashed back?
Also wondering what gains they claim for these motors. I guess I'll give them a call.Mark
