Stream splashwell delete
Hello everyone i bought my first hydrostream this year and im getting ready to finish the core and transom removal but having never done this before i would love to see some pics of where to make cuts on the splashwell and possibly some in process pics of a splashwell delete. My plan is to do all the dirty work and pay someone to lay the core, transom and stringers. Just dont want to make it harder on the guy doing the glass work due to my inexperience

Did you take the cap off the boat?

So you should plan on removing the top cap as mentioned above. When I built my vector, I thought all was fine until i was replacing floor under the bow deck and pushed up hard enough to hear cracking and a bunch of old cabosil and filler break away to daylight, leaving me withering task of removing all old and filling and glassing with epoxy resin to put it back together properly.
As far as where to cut the splash well out, I'd say cut the "tub" out leaving the forward cross member as a guide for where to end the new flat deck.
This whole process would also be a great experience to dive into the world of fiberglass. Would also save you a ton of money that could be put towards a very nasty engine! Good luck and ask any questions, there are plenty of hydrostream guys here who have been through this whole process start to finish.
Post a few pics too!Last edited by Bodhi; 11-17-2019 at 08:33 AM.

**** no on removing the deck. There is no reason for that kind of misery.

I couldn't imagine doing my current build with out pulling the deck. The whole deck removal/install should only add a week or two to the process.

I cut out the core years ago before Terry bought it. Other than the gel being baked the boat is cosmetically very nice. The rub rail is near perfect. There is no need to remove the deck.

Makes sense trying to save the rail. Mine was already shot, still working out how to replicate it.

IMO saving the rail is the only reason not to split. If the original gel isn't good enough to save I wouldn't consider trying to save the rail. Solid paint looks better with the black rubber rail IMO...

Since I popped my cap, I glassed in the piece of foam on the top before I cut the well out, I popped the cap off cut the old well and then I glassed the bottom of the foam underneath.

Thanks for responding guys. My plan is not to split the boat because it dose have near perfect rubrail and despite the non skid finish the bottom is very straight and also the pad is in great shape too, my thoughts were to leave it together, may be a pain to finish the removal of the core and transom but would help keep the boat rigid and hold its shape during the process of putting the stuff back in. Im just a little gun shy on the cutting part right now and wanting to do my homework before i commit on the cuts
