There were lots before the triple flip. I'll try to find one that shows some early boats, maybe 1970-ish

Pictures are great but doesnt tell much. Could have been a wave or a gust of wind that got all of those boats.. Probably never know

I saw three F hydros Blow over at the finish line in April 66 in Central Fla. They were on a Lake with a Round course. I was home from Nam on Emergency Leave because my mother was in the hospital there. My dad and two brothers went to find lunch and I heard alkys running. We followed the noise and watched some great racing. I think there were five F hydros in all. All three broke the existing record on a closed course, Dickie O'Dea was out front when he flipped and given the win. Pretty spectacular I must say..

Too many witnesses to say it doesn't tell much. Hundreds of people witnessed this flip. There were NO waves NOR gusts. These boats flipped because of increased lift because of too many of them being too close together, just like Jim tried to explain in the other thread.

I was sitting in the stands right about where these pictures were taken from. As I remember Reggie came up through the pack, between Harry and Danny, and they all 3 went over. But its been a while.

Correct. Reggie correctly timed the start and everyone else had come up early and slowed way down. The other racers did not know Reggie was back there and closed up what had been a lane just as he arrived. Good lift became super lift and over they went.

You got it. They were all pretty much on the edge and when Reggie came through that did it. The Baja that Kerslake was driving had way too much lift to be running in U class so it only took a little more to blow him over and the other two followed.
