if you can design a tongue jack that is powered by 1/2" drive battery operated hand-held device would be an awesome solution, even to those with no back problem

Think about it, the unit can be charged inside the truck while driving or inside the house before going out

how about the winch? today's hand-held batteries are very powerful. Use the same device to drive the mechanical winch. With small enough gears, even 27 foot boats can be winched with a hand-held device.

wow, I would delete this thread and start getting someone to design this device tonight!

Had a HF electric winch my 20 foot "dogs boat". Just a spare big flooded 12V back the van, and alligator clips. Bet a LI battery small would crank it fine. Many times simple use the handle on the winch to crank the boat up, actually easier than reg winch with the reduction gears winch...

Yea what I'm working on for the winch would mount to winch mount on a plate and woukd just take battery on and off to charge and store the battery.
Want it small and work with the li.-ion battery
So it doesn't need big battery or hook up to tow vehicle for power..
I know the 20v battery can pull the boat up.. my 25' checkmate..
Had a regular tow winch setup but was to big and had to use a 12v battery..wasnt convenient and was a pain in the ass was easier to just use the handle.. that's why I started working on this but slacked off and didn't finish it..
But want to finish it over the winter

Always a easier way everything! Damn, 60 years ago my Dad chucked that POS lousy recoil lawnmower and a socket on the flywheel and a 110 drill? And he was 50 (1950) when I was born! Learned a LOT "how to do when getting old"! Use the brain not the brawn !

12 volts is 12 volts...any 12v works.

Yea that's how I start my lawn mower with the cordless drill and socket.. thats how I started thinking about the jack and winch..

Oh I know, could just buy a 12v light weight battery and mount to trailer but good one $$$ and then charging it and making it look good and still to big and just not compact as Im looking to make It. Actually tried using a couple different batteries on the electric winch I had but think it's the motor they use that doesn't work well.. tried hooking it up to a battery 24 and 80v and just didn't want to work really so
That's why I'm using a brushless 3speed motor out of a drill and a 80v battery want to see how big of a boat I can get it to winch..

I have a winch mounted on my fishing boat that hooks into my light plug on truck. Same with the electric jack. Plug it in and turn on the lights. No muss no fuss and no extra battery to carry around.

Yea that's all you need is the cord to tow vehicle plug..
For winch yea.
But the electric jacks cost couple hundred?
That cost stuff I had around even if I had to buy it a bolt and cotter pin..
I have to be as cheap as possible since I can't really work.. lol

I just want to make it work off a small tool battery.
Not that the cords are a big hassle or anything
(as you know having one)

But every less thing to do bending over etc to save the back and all the rest of the broken body..
Just something to do ..
Actually what I really liked was the bow eye catch.
Just drive boat up on trailer and the bow eye catches and locks and when launching just need to pull string and it easily releases the bow eye lock...
Actually bought one and of course the damn thing didn't work on my boat trailer set-up..
Maybe that's what I should work one that fits my boat.

Thats why I love my marina slip! Now if we could do something about salt water and hull crap! Still good for a month before out and a flush, bath.

Speaking of powerful battery operated tools. I love these things. So much easier to deal with than the old gas powered hydraulic set up. These run a brushless motor to turn a hydraulic pump. The first ones I've used that are comparable in size and weight as well as power to gas powered units. Also no hydraulic lines!

As far as power to your winch. If you were to use a seven pin trailer plug you could grab the Aux power coming through the connector thats used to charge RV batteries. Just a thought. I've switched all my trailers to a seven pin just for ease of use, I hate those old four pins.

Yea I haven't used a 4 pin plug in decades I hate them.
And with the trailer brakes it's just so easier with the 7 pin.
Yea the whole point was to make one that worked off the rechargeable batteries, just because but not sure it's really worth it except for something to do..
Can get a winch now for $70 and I have the box on the trailer for the seven pin just need to wire it into that..


Actually like I said in last post if the ramp and clamp actually worked on mine would be perfect..
And I won't buy a winch just because I rarely have to winch it more than a foot most 2' lol... But I'll spend days making something just for the hell of it
