All ohms show fine numbers on stator and trigger - dva also good!! only the packs had a 7000 bias difference - one was in spec @ 14k, the other was 21k! Replaced with a pair from CDI- no change..
The replacement stator was about 1/16th of an inch thicker - could this cause issues? its one of the 3 stators listed for my motor, and theres a picture that says "lamination thickness" - i guess they had various thicknesses.. new stator seems to run wierd.. different sound -
No parts lying around unfortunately -

A different sound.....happened to me once.... the motor had the yellow tag missing on the wires and the stator, coils and trigger were not paired and messed the timeng up. My brother had a bad F/w......drove him crazy.

Check voltage to the scr. Since we seam to be giving the switch boxes a pass.
The new parts might not be providing enough voltage to fire the switch and woltage will drop or does it go up on that as rpm increase dropping more cylinders.
The other issue that would happen is weird timing from the capacitor charge rate.
Tracing the voltage on the scr in the box is about as weird as it gets, and normally for a bias or stabilizing check. But it can mess with non stable units with either the scr blown or not enough voltage to trigger the switch. It’s pretty rare
you can also tap the greens to see if voltage is even sent to the coil. I forget the old setting was it dwell time or such, it tested coil charge time and would throw it back to a bad capacitor in the switch box if it was low or something. Don’t see the test much these days.Last edited by Motv18; 11-15-2019 at 12:18 AM.

motv - all v at coils almost identical to terminals at packs- volts increase steady as rpms increase..
tried it in the dark last night - no sparks. im going to maybe put it on the water and see how the power is

How is the stator oriented..and your not letting the timing light pick up sag near the other plug wires?
