No power under load

1st thing I go to on a no spark or intermittent spark on v6 merc is switch box. 8 out of 10 times that's the prob. In my experiences. which been alot over the yrs. But most r 20 or 30 yrs old

Just wanted to provide an update. In short, Christmas came early. Switch boxes from CDI came in and I replaced both. Bench tested the new ones vice the ones I took off, and it was obvious one of the two boxes I had on there was bad. Finally got to take it out on the lake, put the hammer down and it jumped out of the hole. I was up to 50 gps before I knew what was going on and grinning ear to ear. Everything runs great now. Huge thanks to everyone on this thread who contributed and helped me work through this issue. Without the input and guidance, especially with me being relatively new to working on an outboard, I don't think I would have gotten this outcome this quickly. Thanks again.

CDI - Has a great tech site and a great assistance as well . But I have to agree allot of members here provide a great many hours getting stuff up and running for people they may never meet . Great site and thanks for reporting back with the outcome to hopefully assist another member in tracking down a similar problem and giving them the confidence to order the correct parts .
