They've already made a huge investment in buying tin boat co's to sell w/their motors on them.
That's a way to increase market share.
Cant see them walking away from that.
The good is BRP's level of tech is as good if not better than anyones.I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

I think they may have bought up the tin boats companies to try and save their inland market. The inland market has remained pretty strong with the domestic brands. Saltwater was lost to Yamaha a long time ago.

I’ve wondered for years why brp wouldn’t use their fantastic 4-tec line of 4 strokes for outboards. They’re very light, powerful, clean, and reliable. Perhaps this is a 4-tec engine with pwc-style inline jet pump. Think about the fact that a 300+ hp 4 stroke fits under the seat of a pwc. Installing it in an outboard pod of sorts would keep the engine oriented horizontal, low profile, and simple.

They already have that: https://commercial.brp.com/commercia...on-system.html

Right, except built into an outboard-mounted “pod”.

I guess. Hard to see much benefit in that, but maybe. In the renderings it looks like any "powerhead" would be below the waterline.

I just took a measurement off of my current PWC (Yamaha FZS). The top of the valve-cover is about 8" above the waterline at rest. They use a "gas seal" (think upside-down pea-trap) to prevent water from filling the engine from the exhaust side with the engine off.

I watched a vid the other day of a foiling ski boat sized runabout with electric outboard.
Was using 10kw to do about 30mph on foils....thats a lot of electricity but 10kw is not much gasoline....
10kw 100amps at 110 volts, gunna need a big battery or a long cord

Take a step back, and think about what this is going to do to the Evinrude dealer network!

I believe they pulled the plug on E-tec not Evinrude.
So Rotax 4 Stroke OBs anyone??I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.
