Did you see Ricky at the start of race in Ft. Myers? It was bound to happen and he was warned by several people but its all part of running on the edge and squeezing for the juice. The Victory boats are very stable when they are running level but are loosing 5-6 mph Vs. flying them on the tail. This was quoted to me by both of the Victory teams and the Jackhammer guys were on the hunt to chase down the pack. Go back and watch the attitude that Gary puts the FJ boat in when he gets passed by other guys -he goes to the trim and hangs it out to get the top mph in attempt to run with them.

[QUOTE=JPEROG;3172811]This was a first ever Keith. The only Super Stock boat to blow over was Nick when he came into the freighter rollers (practice session in St. Clair two years ago). Other then that there were none until this weekend so you haven't missed anything "this was a first". My point being that if people are not careful this has the potential to become common with all of the new "ultra fast" outboard cats being added to our hobby

what about that famous photo of Reggie Billy and guy blowing over together, ? I'll look it up , but not tonight

I only know of three "pleasure boats" that have gone over - the 36 Skater that killed two, the Outerlimits at LOTO which killed one, and the STV RR about a dozen years ago and thankfully the driver lived.

IMO , the double accident is as described and when the two boats touched the air doubled and they were done, I was right there inside the course and watched it happen. In the other accident was bound to happen EVERY other S class racer out there knew that boat was going to end up on it's lid due to ego and in experience. The safety team even told us they were following them waiting for it to happen. If you got the chance to catch there on board before they took it down, it told a lot of the story of what was going on in the cockpit. I've been doing this long enough, and been over a few times myself to know it ain't fun and it's very expensive, oh yeah dangerous too. The throttle and the trim button work both ways. Thank god that all 6 guys are ok and are able to go home to there families!

Yes into a 30+ mph head wind. But comparing that boat to one of our S class boats is a bit of a stretch. That boat is an ULTRA wide and light 36' with 400r's hanging of the back. Not nearly as well balanced as most of the boat in the race class.

I wasn't making a comparison to the race hulls Ryan. They are purpose built machines. mikesufka was talking about different hulls going over. By the way, that 36 is loving the deltas out west right now.

Lots of boats go over. Ask Mike Bethan who was driving the Wicked S-11. I pulled him out of the water when he tried to loop-de-loop his LCB.

Freeze frame has a picture of S11 with Mike Bethan and Todd D almost blowing over

After Todd makes a mold of this boat the next one will be the same but three or so feet longer, their was no need in pushing his little 29 ft in those conditions.

Yeah I’m talking pleasure boats ... STV’s, Skaters, Talons, MTI’s, Spectre, Motion, Mirage, etc ...

I agree with Joe. Wide tunnels+ Big HP + Inexperience = Bad Situation. Unfortunately I believe we will see more of this in the pleasure boat scene. If people do not take notice what happened and how high Jack Hammer went at around 105mph or so. Someone catching a gust of wind hanging it out with 450’s at 125 will see the same results IMO. Just like the 32’ DW last year in Miami. Just because you have a 36’ does not mean you are safe either. A few bad accidents will make it impossible to get insurance in the future.
