Engineermike is correct. In addition to the housing diameter, the Torque Master cannot be raised nearly as high as the Speedmaster because it still has the lower 3 holes on the side of the gear case, plus additional lower holes on the housing. The Speedmaster has all the water intake holes on the bottom of the housing leading edge nose. However my boat would likely slow down if I had the Speedmaster and I am only running 72 - 75 mph.

I don’t know for sure but on the website it looks like the same ole torque master. I wouldn’t want to try to drag the entirety of a 5.44 non-surfacing case through the water at 70+ though.

Agreed, it looks like the older case. I’d agree on prop selection, if it’s the same lower then something that worked on a 300XS TM should work fine on a 300R TM.

I’m thinking it might be worth trying a pro max prop. That was the fastest 4-blade I tried and acceleration was good too. The blades are shaped similar to the blaster but it’s through-hub.

The Promax is certainly one of a few I want to try. I need to try props that I can raise the jack plate without excessive slippage. Mercury says 3" to 3.5" below for the TM lower unit. I believe my 300R TM is the same TM that was installed on the 2 stroke 300XS in the last couple of years. On many bass boat forums I see that most have them set up around 3" below but a few guys have them set up at 1.5" to 2" below. Of course with the hull they have they are using around 20" - 24" of set back and I have 10" of set back. So that might be one reason they can raise the TM that high and maintain water pressure. I feel confident the ProMax would hold 2" below the hull whereas the Bravo FS will not. I would even consider trying a Max 5TS but I think the TM will run out of water pressure around 2" to 2.5" under on my boat and if it did, the 5 blade will probably have too much drag.

I actually am running a max5 ST now. Not everyone realizes the ST is also 1/4” larger diameter than the earlier max5.
