Trying to keep a new Toon looking good is a lot of work, covering the seats, polishing the tubes and all the other normal maintainence add up. I think a manufacturer could do well building a low maintenance rig with a wash down interior, no carpet, no overstuffed furniture just removable cushions that store under the seats. More or less a CC interior that you just hose off after or before a ride. I know I,m dreaming as manufactures are busy loading up their boats with all the “luxury” gimmicks they can dream up, all to justify $80.000 price tags in the buyers mind. This kind of reminds me of a cruiser line a few years ago that put a hot tub in the foredeck, just to make the buyer feel special.LOL

All I can say is growing up I hated pontoons. Then they were fun in high school for chicks and partying. Then got the fast boat bug. Got a little older, the tritoons came out with big power and things changed. My wife and I love our tritoon. Bring people out and still cruises at over 55. BUT...as my other post revealed, I still have the fast boat bug. Later, Dave

Some of the 'planing' pontoons are not slow. We have a standard 20 ft. toon with a yammie 50 and love it.

The wife doesn't like the STV Euro and basically refuses to ride in it so we picked up a pontoon and she loves it as do my 2 Jack Russell's. Now we ALL enjoy going to camp on the weekends . I put it in the lake in May and take it out in September, with the STV I tow it every weekend back & forth. If the weekend weather is questionable I leave the STV home in the garage and still have a boat at the lake if needed. My friends and family enjoy jumping on board and putting around in it also with a choice beverage. But honestly, I thought several years ago I wouldn't have one on a 10 acre lot... must be getting older.

There' No question - they are a nice addition to the lake and they are not as selfish as our hot rod lake toys and make way more sense . But.. You do notice the the go fast stuff while just cruising around allot. It' like sitting at the ramp watching everyone launch but your not going . You dont get an adrenaline rush . But don' have to worry about speeding . It' a differance zone- I have got to stop responding to this thread - DAVID- I'll be back in ten years

Deck boats are becoming popular in our area too .(coastal Georgia)similar layout to a pontoon but have a fiberglass mono hull.Prices are comparable to pontoons.
Also hybrid bay boats offer pottys and generous seating .
I mention this for those who might want an alternative for a pontoon.

I get toons and cruisers pulling up all the time staring and asking questions about my stream. Usually accompanied with stories of the speed boat they used to have etc etc. The aesthetic of a good glass boat is so far unrivaled, although closing... action1923 thats a gorgeous toon!Hydrostream dreamin

You get a pontoon for the same reason you buy a minivan: you gave up on life and your gf/ wife told you "we're getting one". they are super lame but yet they are multiplying in droves every year so there is something to them I guess?? just not for me. hate pontoons.
