I thought Randy’s involvement w/them was the best thing to happen for them.

I hate hearing how bad Doug fk’d him, like everybody else.
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.

I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

Yeah, I also got banned from the Checkmate Forums because I sold an 8 year old 18ft Checkmate with 11 hours on it to the Moderator Jim Wheaton, "JW". It wasn't "PERFECT" enough for him and he wanted me to pay $1500 to sandblast and repaint his trailer because there was some paint blisters on it. I guess there was a stain in the carpet too. I sold it for $18,000. I was one of two sponsors of the site too. Once I could not advertise or post stuff to help people out, I just called it quits. I'm sure Jim Wheaton is happy about it though.

It’s a sore point for sure, I don’t think anyone, including JW was happy about it. Just a bad situation all around. I think JW hated that boat with what all happened and didn’t keep it long.

I use to stock 5-6 Checkmates at all times. Seems lots of people wanted them, but always different colors than I had in stock. The last two I had were 3 and 5 years old, but still new. Needless to say, I lost my ass on them. That's when I started selling only as ordered. My Liberators sell pretty quickly.

Any rumors on anyone purchasing the assets or the brand yet? I see the building was listed.

I learned this. Never build/order a red boat, or a red trimmed boat on spec, for inventory. This usually happens solely because the brain at the top thinks they should have one, just because "they" like red. Big mistake. You will stock it forever & have the most hours on it of any "new" boat in your inventory, because it turns into your demo boat for 4 years.

What goes around Randy. You know the saying. I know, back in the 90's, he & his wife Linda had a new palatial spot on the water in Palm City, Florida...

So what is the lasted news with Checkmate. Has everything been moved to the new owner? Is there full production on the smaller models or just one offs?
