Shes back together and idles nicely. I'd like to replace the water pump - is the key included with the impeller like they are on omc motors?

Had 6 days off work, so in between morning and evening hunts and after dark I managed to get it Tore it down, new piston and rings (chrome bore) in the bad cylinder, new wrist pin bearings, rod cap bearings, and rod for the blown one, new rings for the other 5. Rebuilt carbs, new gasket set, every fuel line in the boat and engine were replaced.

Nice. Have u did compression test after runnin on idle for while? I'm just paranoid , and cameras and stuff do weird things and dont wanna scare u. Sounded like runnin on 5 towards the end of video prob just my ears. always good idea check fire and fuel/plugs after little runnin. Did u have to do any prep to that cyl?

I lightly honed all 6 cylinders since I replaced the rings. Soaked all the bearings in oil while I was reassembling. I pulled all 6 plug wires while idling and each one changed the running of the engine, so its running on all 6. Have to get the gauges in the boat hooked up, then I'll adjust my idle speed in the water. I know on omc the grey wire is the tach signal feed - what color is it in the merc harness?

Took compression after 20 minutes of initial run. Running double oil.

Also you mention jetting it up - what size would you go with? The .082?

Ya u need break in for rings. I'd run 32-1 for bout 15hrs variation rpm under 5k. and few heat cycles. let get up to temp and fully cool off. What carbs do u have again?39s? Do they come with 80 and 82s?

Whee 15 hours is going to be a year of running here. Yes the carbs are 39s and a mix of 80 and 82s on 2 and 5.

I'd go to 82 and 84 , least for little while , and run 32.1 for least 10hrs , then u can go 40.1. Ur beak in time shouldn't b as long as a full build. just tryin get rings and 1 piston to feel at home but is also good to let idle (high) 1k rpm or so n yard let get full temp and let cool off completely. Do that few times. When u do take it out. trim it down and run it like that. U want a load on the motor. Try not use trim while running

Best way to check check valves? Just see if they have movement?

15hrs is way over kill, run 32:1 for the first 2hrs vary engine speed between 25-3500rpm. After that go to regular fuel mix run at any speed but only for short bursts for another 2hrs, then run it. Keep long WOT runs short until 10hrs.
