Didn’t Jim M. hit 127 mph and change in a 28 Skater / 300X combo before he passed away ? And Kennedy is in the mid 120’s, also with X’s ? Not bad for a 30 year old design with old 300X motors
In any case, Dave’s new boat is rockin - can’t wait to see it.

I will be up on the 26th and we are headed East to Munising to spend a few days riding the shoreline "Grand Marais and over to whitefish point". The snow is great as long as: You can play in it, and you can leave it when you are ready for 80 degrees and sunshine again. It took me a long time to learn this but I am glad that I did. Looking forward to dinners at Foggy's, and Buckhorn.

You are correct, Jim had his boat 100% dialed in and Tom does too. But this 28 is one that finally goes to the next level in performance and can not rot "all composite". No question that Pete was way ahead his time with the original 24, 28, and 32 skaters. I think you will be impressed with Daves new toy when we get test time under our belts. -There has only been one set of propellers on this boat and there has never been any weight moved around from the time that it was originally rigged. It has also never been run with propellers that are tuned for the boat or with less then 80 gallons of fuel on board and it still accelerates "stupid fast" with motors that will run on swamp fuel.

Jay, that's not really fair. I went down to Florida twice and was/am extremely happy with the boat. Paul started purchasing parts for this project in 2017. The batteries were 36 month batteries, so they are about due. I talked to Paul and sent me the warrantee info asap. As far as the water pump gaskets, to me, that is 100% Mercury's problem. They are fixed and Mercury warrantied them. Yes, there have been a few glitches, but let me be clear...none are Paul's fault. I would buy from him again! Between the flooding over here, Covid-19, and the few glitches, it is just starting out to be a crummy year. I hope my post clears things up. Looking forward to getting this thing out and reporting back to you guys! Later, Dave

Dave you seemed pretty damn excited and impressed the last time we talked. Enjoy your ride. I wouldn't be worried about a battery
BTW - my ( your ) Skater will be ready today to be picked up and I'll dunk it on Friday. Life is good !

Not a problem. Actually, Paul was the one who alerted me to the water pump gasket issue and sent me new ones before I took it out for the first time. He also sent them to me and paid for the gaskets and shipping. Both times I took it out down there, there were no issues. You should know, if its mechanical, it will/can fail. Like I said, I cant wait to get this out and dialed in! Later, Dave

Well, have had the boat out a few more times and I think things are sorted out. Went rippin' around with Zastrow yesterday and made a few 110 mph passes before it got to busy. By the way, it definitely has way more to go! The boat is super sensitive to trim and engine height. Paul had this boat set up almost perfect when I picked it up, but trying to get it in my garage, I messed with the engine height and did check where he had it. I think I have it now. Later, Dave
