Sooo, I sold my 28 Skater quite a few years ago and have been missing it ever since. We bought a 26 foot South Bay Tri toon with a 400R hanging off the back and thought that would satisfy my need. NOT...
I ended picking up a 22 Couger with a 300XS thinking that would work...NOT
Sold the Couger and picked up a STV Euro and put the 300XS on the back, speed was awesome but just too small...
No big deal until my wife and I went to the Lake of the Ozarks Shoot-Out!!!
We're definitely keeping the tritoon.
I ended up talking to Joe Perog And Paul Chandler about a Doug Wright 28. My wife and flew down to Florida two weeks ago and Paul took us for a ride in his 28 with 300R's. WOW WOW WOW, big mistake!!! Absolutely loved the boat. Its basically takes off on plane and pulls like freight train. We were running 101 over decent chop like it was glass! The boat is absolutely what Joe and Paul told me it was. Now I gotta figure out how to talk the wife onto it. Later, Dave

Comparable, BUT.....It planed off faster and seemed quicker. I wasn't in the boat long enough to make any more evaluations. I definitely loved the windscreen. The interior is smaller and only has 4 seats, but that does not bother me. I love Skater, and you'll never get me to rip on one, BUT....

So... You took your wife to the shoot out, then flew her with you to Florida to go for a ride in the 28.. I take it she went willingly?. She's on board. Cats in the bag!. She's just playing you for some back (side)rubs and drinks.. Send the check..

I "think" she's on board, but she's got me by the nuts on this one. IF this happens, I know there are no more toys in my future for a VERY long time. All I can say is my wife gives me a very long leash to play, so I can't bitch. We'll see how this plays out.

We've got some things going on also. My son bought a Quartershot, and I got the STV back...Never should have went to Jasper and got the bug again.

Hope you get the Doug Wright 28, but knowing you, you'd put the 450's on it.

Theres a game changer coming out of that camp shortly! The 450s are gunnie pigs for that platform and doubling the hp on these light cats

One of the pontoons down here took a opti off put a 200 verado on it still ran 50s. They tuned the verado had to add pitch and picked up 10mph. A couple companies are already workin on tunes for the 450s it’s gonna be up there and not under warranty
