They definitely idle smoother and cleaner. I fought them either stumbling or bogging on take off. Could tweek on them to where they where perfect that day. Come out another day they would either stumble or bog. Always ran good on big end just inconsistent on take off. Sance (T-Tex) told me he fought the same issues and convinced me to give up. But I’m kinda stubborn and won’t to figure it out.

I ran it, if I remember correctly I unhooked it when it would stumble from being rich on the transition with no change (or at least I did on some motor). As long as the cooling system is working properly valve shouldn’t be doing anything above 100 degrees.

So I should least b able test without the valve and just leave the end of the hose open?

Open equals "lean" so keep that in mind. The valve is closed and blocks air to the orifice when below 100 degrees so the engine gets extra-rich mixture when warming. Once the thermal valve hits 100 degrees, the valve opens and allows the hose to deliver more air to the mix. Gordon

Ya I get that part. but up to 100. It's just gona b idling neway.
After 100 its open with full air. Dont c how it could lean it out to b dangerous.

You’ll be fine, valve only restricts air to idle circuit below 100. Off idle won’t effect enough to hurt. Just will be a little cold natured.

The 18s wont fit under a xri cowl with a 1 in spacer unless mod the cowl at bottom which will have a space to take in water and feed bottom carb which we dont need. I'm gonna stop playin wit chit til I get a diff cowl for this mota. I'll prob leave it b and put all this effort in new mota and boat restore ,,

If you could get them I think you would enjoy a 6pack if wo-8 anyway. Would look sweet with velocity stacks and spacer. (If you like the 6 carbs vs 3 look)

Yea that was in a Hurry, think I got auto correct as well.
Was as wondering if you ever though of running the wo-8 carb from the 250-275 it’s a 6 carb set up or 6pack. Their pretty much nla. they were nice though no air jets just low and high and plenty of flow.
