    300xs power head on a 300x mid

    Has anyone done it?

    sure you just need an exhaust plate for opti or you gotta drill some holes in the x plate for compressor fittings.

    Yes, bolts on 300x adapter. Remove large pipe plug on left side of adapter and plumb the water line to the air compressor there. Air rail dump can go just about anywhere. Trim cowl liner if using 300x cowl. Be ready to save gas and go slower.

    Thanks for the replies. I like to save gas and at my age everything is slower.

    You can also modify the X cowl to clear the compressor and have it retain a stock appearance without loosing the rear water catch. I have one of each and unless I cover the power head when trailering a on a road trip, it draws a lot of trash in the open cowl. Fuel use is almost 1/2 with an XS but you miss the twist up top.
