Mine was originally rigged with a 30" stainless marine set back and a 300 V8 Evinrude XP motor. From Factory that way. Very similar to rapid transit set up.
All I did was sell v8 and Hang a 250 Etec on it and it ran awesome. Set back was a bit much to try and turn at 60 in a 3' plus sea. But it worked great in rough going straight... Boat thought it was 41' long. Never had to lift off throttle really ever.

I quess you had same kind of set back as i do, mine is like swimtab but i like it. Old Johnson 225hp gives nice ride with 4bladed turbo txt and can be varied in different conditions with hydraulic jack plate. 64mph was top speed.

...drop a plum bob on a string off both ends of a mid eighties apache 22 scout & measure its true length. its 21 feet 2 inches. yes, it was called a 22 in those years to compete with the then popular velocity 22, marketing wise. the four different generations of molds of this apache varied in its length, give or take, a few inches. one has to be very specific on which exact year small apache they are referencing in conversation. there were about six different deck molds & designs build by apache over the years, for this same hull. a couple of these were called a 21, others, a 22. the hull/deck overall lengths varied minutely...
