I have the Apache factory brochure stating HP up to 225 along with a typed quote showing specifications and it states max HP 200. This was from the early 90s.

Thank you guys for pics and info! I am thankful from all. I found also one picture from advertise and there was 250hp recommended max power and that is good for me and the authorities. Now lets see how the deals go and next summer i will enjoy seas with Apache. Will going to wrap it...guess hull shiny black and deck shiny white with the Apache logo.

Remember, the way they rate HP on outboards changed a number of years ago. A 200 used to be 200 HP at the crank. Now it's 200 HP at the prop. So a new 200 will go much faster on the same hull than an old 200.

Yes! There is 225hp Johnson on it´s tail. Will be more than curios to see how it runs in speed and stormy conditions. The old Finnish boat wich i have now is 4.7m long with 115hp Johnson is getting top speed 58mph but impossible to drive =) and when is just few meters of wind is better not to go anywhere...
I would be very pleased if Apache would run near 70mph in control...
This apache have long bracket with swimming steps and no jackplate.

the 22 apache that the original poster was inquiring about was specific to the his 1988 era of 22 apaches. that particular model/deck/hull was only made for about 3 or 4 years. roughly 1984 through 1988. outboard models with various brands/types/setbacks of brackets, and of course the sterndrive model of the same boat. quite a few sterndrive boats were made, but a lot more of the o/b powered versions. these specific years of 22's were the highest volume made. two other deck//hull design 22's were made after this original version, but only outboard versions then.

all of the original 22's in question, when outboard powered new from the factory, would have been the propshaft rated big outboards, as they are still today. nothing to compare to. large o/b propshaft ratings for all makes started in the 1984 model year. actually it was summer of '83.

I stand corrected. Thank you. I thought the change in HP ratings occurred somewhat later. Then again, my memory isn't what it used to be. Memory is the second thing to go. Conveniently, I can't remember what the first thing to go was.

apples & oranges, with regards to the early 22 apache boat. different builders, different hull, different everything... not to mention that that 24 in the rendering has never even been built.

https://youtu.be/WcldPTh2XrM ...this was a new 22 sterndrive that came from that time frame of 22 molds. it belonged to one of the riggers that built the 22's & 33's that were produced then. his personal boat. others were in early Miami Vice shows, etc.

Any feedback from hydraulic jack plate to long bracket? Read from somewhere that outboard should be quite low?? Is It useless to apache with long bracket or is there positive effect to speed and handling??

Brian and I owned and built that boat from ground up. It had a 427 Chevy motor with 13.1 compression, crash box, and reworked TRS Drive back in the day from Speedmasters. We built it on a budge but it was bad ass ride for back in the day ran almost 90 mph with not a lot props to choose from. It was an animal for its size. Brings back a ton of memories

ID:	462742 During winter the changes was like this. Now waiting warm weathers to run prop testing. With Viper 19p was 58mph solid train with 2persons onboard. Now there is hydraulic jackplate added and props will be tempest 23p and 26p raker.....maybe more options to be tested.
