Sportmaster cost yo rebuild

I was running down th he channel and lost my 1/2inch shaft.
I dropped it off at ocean marine on longisland ny. Th hey said to rebuild it to a 1 inch is 3500. Does that sound like a hood price?

For that price I would buy a fat shaft lower and part yours out. Seems high unless they have to change a lot of parts

That's high if all your internals are good and just needed a fat shaft, a few bearings and some seals.

Who builds the strongest SM, not to factory specs but at a level above merc. Something that will last against hard use. Thanks.
