Yeah, lets ruin this kids life forever over a stupid moment and bad judgement. A real behaviour changing penalty would be to spend every weekend serving time at a homeless shelter for 2 years. Cleaning toilets and helping others less fortunate might change him and his life for the better. "making an example of him" will serve no positive purpose except to inflate the ego of the prosecutor. These kids that do this kind of stupid thing never think they will get caught. We can't just ruin young peoples lives over a single moment of stupidity.

I live in a rural area and for a while on a fairly regular basis my mail box would get destroyed. After several of my boxes were replaced they caught the kids doing the damage and to my surprise authorities contacted me and asked what I thought the penalty should be. My suggestion was to make them spend part of every Saturday for a year doing maintainence around all the boxes they destroyed. Prosecutors felt that was too harsh and while it was just kids being mischievous it was also a federal offense. Rich daddy got them off with just a slap on the wrist and they are probably still morons today. There needs to be an effective penalty but 20 years seems a bit much.

Nobody said 20 years was going to happen, that was stated as the Max pennalty. I still think maybe 90 days would be about right, or maybe pay restitution for the security costs his little mistake cost the taxpayers. A slap on the wrist will just be a joke. Please bare in mind that this Kid tried to ruin the day for 50,000 people, he knew exactly what he was doing.

This prosecutor gave a guy a year for t-baggin a drunk, (prob a 2nd deg. misdemeanor) what do you think he will give this 19 yr old? I would guess a min of 5 yrs since it's a 3rd deg. felony.

I do not think the prosecutur decides the penalty, is that not the Judge or Jury’s job? I think 90 days would be enough to make an impression.

30 days hard labor would probably get his attention. What kid at 19 can make bond at 100k? Sounds like a spoiled rotten punk that had everything handed to him growing up. Participation trophies and all. My folks would have let me rot in jail before they threw 10 grand out for my stupid ass act. I am 100% positive my dad would have told to the court to throw the book at me and went back to work.

He is a rich punk. He ... His rich parents will pay him out. At least hurt them in the pocket book. $250K fine would work depending...
