1200 miles on a 50 year old Merc

While floating and contemplating the near ending of boating season 2019,I started adding up my miles this season.I averaged over 150 miles per week conservatively , mostly running between Willow Island Dam and Reedsville Ohio.The significant other has her own dock, and it is a lot more fun to travel by river. Easily 1200 miles this of this season.All this running on a 1968 Mercury 80 horse. I have been running at 41 to 4500 RPMs for nearly an hour at a time.it made the entire season until this week when one of the original crimped fuel lines finally started leaking.this was a motor purchased from Craigslist for three or four hundred dollars that sat in my garage for years. I added a new wiring harness, impeller and my trusty old 21-pitch prop,which all joking aside truly is older than my ex-wife.at 5200 RPMs she will push the old Glastron about 41 or 42 mi an hour with me and two dogs. With both seasons combined, last year and this year.. has easily done over 2000 miles. Although not the fastest thing on the water, I truly love these old Merc 4 cylinders.

And,due to the proliferation of wake boats and the so polite operators,my two dogs expanded their vocabulary to include..watch out,here comes a big one and holy s**t.They both immediately hit the deck now.All the wake boats..but no skiers behind them?
