96 mariner 225 carb idling at 2-3k rpm
At first I thought I had a fuel problem cuz I had to be squeezing the bulb to keep the motor running so I replaced the fuel pump and a few lines that were dry rotted n right after that after numerous times trying to start the motor n finally started it, it went straight to 3k rpm at idle.. I took apart the carb n found a line wit a bolt in it in the Reed cage. Dont kno how that got in there maybe previous owner. Put everything back together and same thing idle at 3k.. bought a carb rebuilt kit slap it on n same thing idk wat else to look for n need some help thanks

Did you test/replace high pressure pump and pulse pump?
Can you put a fuel pressure gauge on to verify?
There is a small screen inside fuel center on those I think, maybe its clogged?
Does primer ball go flat?
Check all vacuum lines also.
If that all checks out time to start on electrical side I guess...tps, map, cam sensor etc ..
But sounds like a fuel issue to me.
