I'd like a 4 inch core because I'm thinking ahead. The next owner may want to put a pair of V8 motors weighing in at 500 lbs each (if that) I'd like this transom to be ready

the double thickness transom core also fits in 1 sheet of 4x8x2 coosa, so why not use it

here is a mockup of 4 inches of coosa core ..dang !

I would not mix epoxy and vinyl. I know some do it but not me. As far as trans thickness, I have a 3'' transom in all my boats. 4'' is Heavy duty.

83 V-King, Mercury 3.0 back on the transom

Vinyl and epoxy are cousins in the chemical world

Vinyl ester is great stuff in every way shape and form, It breaks loose the binder in mat making things move around where epoxy it will stay stiff.
