VV is only engine and boat parameters. If you want nav., you will have to connect a chart plotter.

I planning on upgrading my dash and wanted navigation with engine display all in one.
Do I buy chartplotter with nmea and use mercury gateway to tie into navigation system to display engine data

The Vesselview units are rebadged Simrad. I prefer buying the Simrad unit itself and plugging in Vesselview Link. You get identical functionality and an MFD that meets your needs.

Only Navico based units support Vesselview but you can use a Garmin if you use the Mercury NMEA 2000 gateway. It’s not Vesselview but it will display standard engine parameters.
