A question of shade.
I’m new to the forum, and new to a boat that goes over @ 25 knots. I just purchased and brought home a 2008 Superboat 24 Millennium CC with a 2016 Mercury 300XS on a bracket.
Come next spring I’ll be looking to add some sun protection to the boat, but I don’t want to take away from the beautifully sleek lines. What does the performance boating crowd use, other than lots of sunscreen? It gets pretty hot and humid here in the Low Country of SC.

I use an anchor shade for the very reasons you listed.

anchor shade is only good at anchor or trolling speeds. T tops rob you of speed, the best remedy I can think of is a foreward leaning arch that you can unfurl a canvas backwards and secure that can be used at speed or retracted completely for minimal wind obstruction. fun out

Thanks guys. Good points for each option proposed. I’m thinking of getting a bunch of PVC pipe and mocking up a few options to see what looks good.
I like the arch idea, but with the boats relatively narrow beam I’m not sure how it would look. I’m 6’3” and I’d want to be able to stand under it.
I’d imagine a Bimini could be built to withstand at least 55 mph winds, if not more.

55 mph is pushing it for a bimini. But if it is built well, it could be no problem at all.

thats a narrow beam center console, isn't it? an arch can be restrictive on that boat. fishermen don't really like them, as their always having to run their fish pole around them, and on a narrow beam boat, there's no room between the console & the arch upright. high speed constructed, quality bimini is the answer. all stainless tube(not aluminum), with good ends & super strong deck attachments, and also diagonal supports with same. stay under 45 with it up, or fold it down. the quick release sailboat track hardware is the bomb, but not necessary.
