just curious if you clear coated?

usually gunners use a real paint on top of 545, I just want to clear it

have you clear-coated any 545 primer?

I am not familiar with 545 primer but if it' an epoxy primer and your topcoating it with a urethane clear I dont think you will have any issues. That is as long as you follow correct mixing of catalyst and allow the primer to flash off before . I dont understand your thinking on clearing the primer but I believe applying clear over it will be fine . Call their tech line for further technical info if available . Hope that helps

You can color tint the 545. I have used it on every boat that I have done but always went over it with Awlcraft or Awlgrip.

yes Joe you hit the nail right on

I've seen DW in past deliveries of the DW32 where the "finished" hull is ready for paint and all it had was 545 epoxy primer and I thought that it was beautiful in that finish

    Why am I doing this?

I'd like to try giving my boat different look, I also want a durable finish

the clear is to show off the shine of the hull

and as Joe mentioned, we can tint the epoxy so that we can still reach a good and beautiful color on a primer

that's my goal, just to try sth out

I am struggling to see what result you want. There are topcoats that can look like tinted prime that are proven.

Before you lay down the topcoat, a good primer is needed

I want to lay down the primer and stop there

Don't want to add any top coat,

Following the 545, I'd like 3 coats of clear

I'd like to know why this is a bad idea

    .

    Power,

    That's a good point!

I'll find out if adding tints would help prevent that
