The 300R boat is a customers, the XS is their boat that has been refined for years now. If you don't take the time and money to get the correct props so that you can utilize the motor height then its not going to impress you. Mark has the blue boat 100% dialed in and proves it every pass. Its also very light.

Question: Will the 300R ever become available with 15" mid....from Mercury. I have heard people say they are working on it. I have heard others say it is impossible as the oil pan would be too close to the water and it wouldn't work. Mercury built what 50 of the 400 ROS X cat motors with 15" mids. Not sure how many others are out there? Any issues with those? I have heard there are some aftermarket shops working on something for a 15" conversion. I wouldn't really want to buy a brand new 300r motor and then have to spend another $5K or more on a 15" conversion.

Does anyone have any first hand news if this will ever happen?

Its coming-the industry is just getting started with this platform and you will be able to put a V-8 together that is going to be faster then you want to go. You can bet that Mercury's version is going to be expensive based on the 400 ROS and what it was priced at. 5K to convert it to a 15" with new parts would be a gift, it cost more then that to convert an XS correctly.

Do you know when? 2020, 2021? Is this still being discussed at the sales/ marketing department, on the drawing board or further along than that?

Chaz = thinkin, 300xs ... cranks are good for 180cc. Something a bit more advantageous than that is the fact that the piston dwell's closer to BDC 30* each side of 180*, exposing more transfer / longer than a 3" crank does. Other than that, If you want gas mileage, I saw Kia's are on sale in this mornin's Palm Beach Post ..

PS .. 300r, the hi-po world is about to go wild ... kinda like "If my aunt was my uncle" .. until it happens ... And when / if it does, it won't be like opening the Crane book and finding 8 pages of shelf cams like you can for an LS .. or even a Ford of the same displacement ..
I have to trust one of my mom's sayings on this .. Don't count your chickens before they hatch ..

Both motors are great for what they were designed to do. Flogging propellors to death for a couple MPH is kind of crazy to me. If you gotz the money .... buy a 450 , or build five or six Merc or OMC 400 - 450 hp powerheads for what one 450 costs ...

    300r ~$22000
    400r~$28000
    450r ~$42000

I would buy two 300r before one 450r. I’m excited to see the aftermarket that comes out for the 300r should be very interesting.

    OK .. I give up ...

The "Vertigo" series motors have been out for quite a while now. How come the aftermarket never "took-off" with them .. ???

Couple places raise the limiter .. but to my knowledge, that's about it.

No cam grinds available, no hand or
    CNC head porters,
blower case extension and long rotor kits, Zip - nadda ...

    Why is that .. ???

And if that's truely the case, why would the aftermarket invest in what could quite possibly be another dead area ... ???

    Serious question ...
