That's a prop lock, takes a "key" socket that came with it. I have several keys at the shop for when one comes in with a lost key.

dig around in the boat, maybe you will find it..... looks like this:

Or wedge a chisel or something in between the sleeve and nut and use a wrench or channel locks to spin it out griping what you wedged in there

I have seen many locking lug nuts but that's my first locking prop nut. Good luck.

My first too. I could see protecting an expensive prop, but this is just an old aluminum junker.

I have had a pair on my twins for 3 years now. They work very well. I keep the key like sockets zipped tied to the prop wrench. I got cards with #numbers on them so they can make new keys to match. There's only so many combs they make.. call them

Can you cut a slot in it to turn it out like a flat head screw? Not sure how they work.

You can drill a few holes in the nut big enough for a nail..3 works well.. then should be able to grab them with channel locks still a pita but worked..
Or take a small pipe drill a couple holes in the end put a nail thru and can use that to turn it
