Tesla battery pack teardown piece by piece.

This was used a part of a boat system that the owner claims will go 53 mph.

They are going to have to start to service these soon. The cars will last much longer than the packs. I have 67k on my car and i think i have lost 10-15% range. But my car is a early 2012.

Drove a hybrid rental to The Who concert in Houston last week. You defiantly feel the weight of the battery pack in the car. Other than that it was a nice car, Hyundai Sonata Hybrid.
Not as comfortable as the Nissan Altima rental I drove to Houston 3 weeks ago. The Altima had a CVT transmission. I really liked the way it accelerated and was more comfortable than the Sonata.

Scary when he cut a single 4v battery in half and it started foaming, outgassing and getting hot. I can see why those things are something to be wary of. I had no idea on how they were constructed, and found it interesting. Lot of stuff going on there.

Yeah, makes ya wonder what a bad wreck in a car with those batteries would be like.

the same battery is in your cordless drills and the people with the Vapes that were catching on fire were manual ones where you had to make sure you didn't discharge them to much or they will catch on fire.

I had a cordless drill battery go up once. The charger was not shutting off when it was charged. Came back to my shop and the thing had burnt my bench top. Never left one unattended since. Same goes for any charger now.

I discharge/charge my Lithium Polymer bats for my R/C stuff in a ceramic dish. There is a reason why I do this.

I fired up my 74 Bronco with a hot 302 the other day. Nice bump from the cam. Holley. 100LL Av Gas... Smells right!

Not there yet. Not even close!!!

I have ridden with many taxi drivers whose Teslas has done hundreds of thousands of miles, including one who had 300,000 miles on the odometer.

They are all super-happy with the battery life, as well as the lack of maintenance overall.__PRESENT__PRESENT

Cool boat! Gotta hand it to people trying different things out.

We have designed some waste management systems for automated trash conveying to an incinerator. Biggest single hurdle is assuring there are NO BATTERIES at all going into the incinerator. One AA cel will give off more toxic pollution than a hundred tonnes of regular trash. So on the battery front I too think that the "green" aspect of this electric shift is a lot of hype. Is it cleaner than gas? Maybe I dont know for sure over the long haul but the pollution problems with batteries are real and pose different dangers that I see literally no discussion on. Be nice to see a capacitor solar system that delivers in real time.

Theres all sorts of other fuels too that do not require sun or wind. hydrogen is interesting

    Anyways cool boat regardless
