Mercury 2.5 150 XRI Performance Changes

I have purchased a short exhaust tuner, 175 ecu, and Chris Carson Reeds.

If I were to put those things on an existing 150 without doing any port changes would I still expect reasonable gains or without changing the porting to a 175 would it be minimal? This is just a bass boat I am trying to get a little more out of.

I am having trouble finding a place that does port work near me in MN? If anyone knows a place within a days driving distance of MN please let me know.

Would be cheaper to buy a bigger motor than to do all of that work. Shaved heads is the best bang for your buck

Cheaper to buy a bigger motor then use the one I have with all the parts I already have? I am missing something? Every 175 I am seeing is 4g+ I have 400 into parts and an existing motor?

If mean to get the port modifications done I cant even find someone who does the work locally so I dont know the cost... That was the reason for my question would the modifications I have listed without the port work even be worth it?

I would think you could find a 175 or 200 powerhead for much less than $4000. Its a lot of work tearing a motor apart and putting back together. Basically doing a rebuild. I guess if you are doing it yourself it wouldn't be more expensive.

Please let me know if you see one. I have a WTB on the forum here and have been all over ebay and craigslist...

Ideas on where to look? I am more then willing to pay a reasonable amount for a core to start from.

175 are a little harder to find. Are you afraid a 200 is too much power?

Years ago John Tiger did an article in Bass and Walleye modding a 150 XRI, if I remember ended up around 200hp.

I had planned on it but I would need someone else to do the port work. I have not found anyone locally that does that kind of work...

Thanks for the offer but I want to stay with the 175 just to avoid any issues...
