Impeller every year. cheap and easy to do. grease the spline. never had any of my driveshaft's get welded in.
then we get Mr stupid...... "mine never been out in 10 years would you change mine for me" ....me.. not until you loosen all the bolts and drop the leg 1 inch.
then ill do it..
I am not going to sit around for 2 or 3 days trying to un-seize a driveshaft due to stupidity, ignorance and greed,....
even if the blades dont rot the impeller takes on a set... plus gives you something to do on a rainy day..

At the J/E dealership I used to work at people who wouldn’t proactively change WP impellers were “good for business” ha ha. Oh it was a 1.5 hr job before .....well now you need a head gasket, etc etc.
On the stuck driveshafts: we nearly always were working on saltwater engines so this was pretty common, especially on the smaller engines. We had a custom puller that would pop out a shaft in about 10 minutes, that made us lots of money too. Spending 3 days on a stuck shaft is a no-go in a production environment.

If you run fast enough, you don’t need an impeller.
