    What model Charger is this?

Just picked up a project boat. 21 Charger solid hull and transom, floors solid. Looks like factory transom knee braces boats actually in really good shape. Making it my sons project. Are they any good? Fast? Stable? Thinking 150hp 20” should be a solid 60mph boat? Thank You!

150hp enough? I’m figuring 20” 150hp has a hydraulic jack plate already. Any rigging advice would be great do’s and donts with these. And if anyone has a motor, hydraulic steering, bucket seats for sale pm me or text 631-310-8481 thank you! Chris

Do a search on this site.
I recall someone doing some digging on one a few years ago.
Chargers were very well built through the 80’s, after that there was a change in ownership / production and things slipped a bit.
The TV’s we’re pretty capable of running into the 80’s with decent power but they were never real rockets. I don’t think they turn all that well either, not dangerous just not great in the corners.

Yes, yes and yes. These hulls typically came with a 200hp merc and would run right around 80 depending on the setup. The 150 should easily be a 60 mph boat...giving you the option to increase the engine hp down the road. I never saw very many of these tunnel vee's around. The 18' DL was the more popular model back in the mid 80's. I have the original brochure for that boat if you need a copy. Good luck with your project!

I was a Charger dealer back in the mid 80's. I liked their boats and they were well built up to about 1990.
I had a 20 TV with stock 200 Merc mounted direct on transom and according to the Medallion speedometer I could get about 82 by myself and close to 80 with 2 people.
What I liked was in a straight line if you over trimmed it would actually slow down, as mentioned not the best in the tight turns.
I sold one in 1987 that had a Johnson 225 and again pretty good straight line but with top-heavy OMC it felt like it was going to barrel role in a turn.
I have to believe with a 150 you may see mid 60's and it should be very safe at that speed.
