Nope, these motors have to be Pre-1985. The 1982 and 1985 issues of Popular Mechanics talk about these twin custom Mercury engines and how they are expected to push the boat over 250 mph to break a world speed record at a lake near Las Vegas. Everything on these engines is early to mid 1980's stuff. Hoods, super speedmaster gear cases, T3 Mids, steering bars, etc.

maybe early 80's, looking at only view for powerhead reveals 5 petal front and mabe close head bolt spacing which would be head bolt boss not on sleeves but on block. and later for sale stuff like oil pump block off plate not to mention oil pump itself which im thinking was not available till 84or 85but i cant remember now any way need Tommy Warren to look at this as he is familar with all these over hill guys merc motas

agree is a very nice piece of history,,,,
kinda like a switzer wing hull out of alunimum
motors definatley didn't come from merc assembled
as powerhead has 2 piece heads but head studds are on the block(pre 1982 were on cyls),block off plate on the oil pump boss (84/85 up),horizonal 5 pedal reeds(early were vertical5),sst140 front carb plate,,,so probably an early 2.4 sst 140 motor of the mid 80s,,,,,then the 2.4 Bridgeport cowl (not early F1 style)also followed era of sst140 powerhead,,,,the manual 12" mid or T2 would have been matched to the T2 style ssm gearcase ,,,as the 15/14 case is not a ssm,,,was later for sst140,,,,
if had a pair of true TX2 motors would really have an great piece with the stackers with SSM gearcase
but still to date,,,,,250 mph with twin o/bs hasn't been reached,,,,,,
