    Unreal how lucky we are-

As I was running back from dinner with my dad tonight I couldn't help but keep thinking about how blessed we are to (be back in our normal daily modes-not even dealing with flood zones or trash in the river) yet only a couple hours away we have people that are living a nightmare and over two thousand people are unaccounted for.

85 degrees as the sun set tonignt-

Seems you're a good person Joe. Can't say I know you personally but with a post like that I am pretty sure I do. RR

No, I ran the 17' Montauk that I built for my dad. Unfortunately, his health has him to the point where he prefers me going with him "which is not a problem-I just assume that he would enjoy it more by himself as I like to run at least 40 the whole trip". We got home and he said "that was my idea of a perfect evening and that was one of the best days that I have had in a couple months" My response was okay well lets go tomorrow night then.... he just doesn't have the energy but I know where I get the water bug from because it really gives him a reason to smile.

This was what I started with-

My dad has always been a Yamaha guy. We had one of these boats brand new in 88 with a 75 merc. on it. After I got this boat, my dad had stopped by my house and said "I would like to have another one of those to take back and forth to Michigan". I said you can have this one when I am done with it but I am going to make it a little more exciting to run then our old one. Its seen a best of 62 so far and that was in cold air. When he is done with it I have a 15" 200XS that should give it a little extra push.

My parents' neighbor had a 17 ft Whaler with a 130 hp Yamaha. 25 inch mid and different center console than in the picture, though. I bought him a decent propeller, but it got nowhere near 62 mph.

After kids, wife and dog, that boat was the love of his life.

    But he died last year, far too young...<object id="__symantecPKIClientMessenger" data-supports-flavor-configuration="true" data-extension-version="1.0.1" style="display: none;"></object>__PRESENT

Great pix Joe and ya can't go wrong a Whaler! And by the way, I donated to Samaritans Purse the islands, as have with the flooding Louisiana before. I always got a extra $100 to send someone in need..

I don't think anyone will argue if you were to put more whaler pics up......everyone loves a classic whaler hull

Yeah Noli I have always had a Whaler fetish. I grew up on a Lake in West Michigan that had a very successful Whaler franchise so I was surrounded by them at a young age and then my dad has had several over the years as well. My problem is that I like to make them different then the average so they all turn into projects. I currently have 5 of them including the 17. The 15 that Doug put the bottom on for my son is a special boat and it went out West to lake Mead. Another one that I did "pictures below is a 1989 25' Temptation. You will see my 18' Outrage with the diesel jet pac pretty soon "I think that there are more hours in it then any of the others but it will be a great inter coastal cruiser/dinner boat when its done. I also have a 17 Newport that will be pretty special with a 15" 200 at some point. A big part of this boating hobby is the chase and complete factor.

Temptation pictures "this one ended up in CA." I think it was the best running one ever-not that many other people have tried to run 75. Wildman helped me make this one pretty close to perfect 15 years ago. When I think back on what I sold this for and all of the work and money that went into it.....crazy.....but I got some type of satisfaction and everyone that likes Whalers "loved it" + we broke some hearts going across lake George "sucks to get beat by a Whaler".
