I'm switching everything over to digital and rewiring the whole boat so have some sense of how it works and what the differences are. Mine had the 15 pin round to 8 pin round adapter (84-896542A01) and the old style 8 pin boat harness. The tach works fine didn't have water temp but I don't think that goes through the harness and the pressure gauges are mechanical so also work fine (should be a plugged tee near the rigging tube.

I'm kinda committed to digital trim at this point. What are you basing that on? Display on an SC1000? I am going with the Livorsi LED indicators. I hope it's not a problem because that little box is stupid expensive!

Thanks for the heads up and I will report back when I get it up and running.

I didn't have any trouble with the digital indicators on trim. They seem very responsive and the ability to calibrate the full down, full up and a sweet spot marker is a bonus. I set the full up to be about beaching height as I don't need an indicator any higher than that. Now I have to make senders for the jack plates to get those indicators working.

Do you have instructions like above to connect an analog trim gauge to a digital sender on the 3.2 Opti?

You have to change the senders to analog.

I'm surprised it's not available because there is no simple way to get the digital output to work on an analog gauge. I thought I saw a thread on changing the digital to analog sender but can't find it now so you are probably right. You might have to use something like this 8M0099687 analog gauge interface.

Whats odd is the Water temp, Tach and volt work. Are they digital? This rig is new to me and I have not torn into it yet.

You probably have the 14 pin to 8 pin adapter under the cowling. That allows you to use the older style 8 pin harness which takes care of the tach and volts is volts so it works anyway. Not sure about the temp but there is a 4 wire temp sender that has both the digital and also the brown lead for analog. Here is a link to a manual (90-898305) that has a bunch of info. Check page 31 for the trim sender note that made me think you just had to change the sender. Page 32 talks about the temp. It says 135 through 250 so may not apply to the 300's but worth checking.

    Thank you for this info.
The 821180A6 analog sender is listed for a 3.0L but no mention of a 3.2L I wonder.
