OMC J40TEECR rev limiting power pack
I've got a 1998 short shaft Johnson 40 hp. I've installed the 50hp carbs and reed boxes and am trying to figure out if the power pack is rev limited at 6,100 or 6,700 rpm. I've got the OEM service manual but I'm still not sure.
The numbers on what looks to be the factory installed power pack are:
OMC CD2SL 2T67 585261
also printed on the power pack:
29 JW-OA
Thanks for any help in this matter and any other advice to get the most out of this motor, for instance, the best stainless steel prop.(I hope to get a tach installed in the next few days, so at this point I don't know my max rpm, wot.)
