I do it at the end of the year. It works best when it sits for a bit. I mix a bottle with just under a gallon of fuel in a can and run the motor several times on the hose over a period of a few days. I also leave that concoction sit in there during the off season. Actually I would buy a can of Mercury power tune and use that instead.

As a yearly thing 100% it will help keep injectors clean. If your injectors are truly dirty though (to the point of sever run issues) nothing in a bottle will fix them.

And it they are that bad what's the VST look like?.....

+1 for power tune. Clean the vst out first then empty the whole can into the vst. If the injectors are truly dirty from trash and debris, as stated above nothing in a can will help. But if it's just varnish then the power tune should clear it out. Also spray some slowly into the compressor intake with engine running

Try some pea based direct injection cleaner works great on the di tips and fuel injectors. This di it help to know what tip is dirty.

I would also also buy a can of Sunoco or vp straight gas to mix with not the pump gas. As clean quality gas cleans just as good as the detergents.

I would definitely send them out to get flow tested and cleaned youd be suprised how much carbon builds on the air injectors. This was after a year and half and not many hours. Live up north so boating season is rather short. I would of expected a performance loss with an injector looking like that but the only reason i got them cleaned this particular time is because my compressor went kaboom. Before that happemed the motor was running top notch. I run a 250xs also

Around 530 when it went which based on my research around 500 is when the 1st Gen adonixed compressors go. Meant to change it out before hand but put off due to the cost which ended up costing me more by waiting of course. The newer all black compressors (dual bearings) has a much longer lifespan, haven't read about any failures.

You been spraying power tune into the comp intakes for long? Will it clean the air injectors? Or just a preventative thing?

Learned it years ago from merc master tech . Would do it with every service. I'm sure it cleans everything all the way thru the air injectors. Just feed it in slow as to not hydro lock the compressor.

The pea is a chevron invention works better then all the alcohol and transmission fluid based cleaners.

Its in chevron techron, ansoil pi, redline something, royal purple max atomizer,

i run the royal purple it even cleans the black out of the prop sometimes.

Like any cleaner though results my vary

Personally I think if your using cleaners in a bottle for anything other than routine maintenance purposes you should probably consider having your fuel and air injectors cleaned and flow tested.

Idled 2003, 225 Opti, 280 hrs, for 30 mins in order to get the Stabil throughout the system for winter. Changed spark plugs and decided to run again. I notices a slight stumble, miss. I'm thinking an injector got a little clogged. I doubt it is due to the new plugs because it was intermittent. First time doing this on hose hookup. In the past always added the Stabil on our last fishing trip. Ran compression test and all good. Been reading about adding Seafoam to VST for 5 mins, shut down let soak and run again. What are your thoughts? Second question, I have the original metal reeds. Been reading about the carbon reeds and everyone thinks they are a big improvement. Should this be a winter project or if it ain't broke don't fix it. Thanks
