    Glastron GT150 Resources and Period Infomation Needed

    Guys,

    I've had one of these on my wish list for several years now. In addition to having email alerts set-up on Craig's List, I'd check regularly on eBay and Craig's List for the right one and right price. This one came up 3 hours from my house on Saturday and I thought it would be worth the drive. 4 years of looking and debating, now parked in my garage.

    These photos are 4 years old. The 4 years of outside storage and wear since have left this 1971 model far from what you see here. I will be pulling the outboard this weekend and start splitting the cap/hull for a full-on stringer/transom/flooring rebuild. I've waited a long time for one of these, so really no rush to get it in the water before I do the restore.

    I'd like to know if there are any GT150 or Glastron owners groups out there that can provide specific resource information. The original seats and bases are long gone, so I'd love to find drawings or base material patterns to build my own replicas of the original seating. I want to put this back as close to original in appearance as possible while using modern composite materials for the knee bracing, stringers, transom, and flooring. The things you can't see will be better than new, but I want those you can see to be true to the original 1971 model. Inputs Appreciated!

    There's a guy in Poland I think that does repop emblems and decals. Very nice stuff. I got a set for mine and let them go with the boat when I sold it. Found him on ebay. I've heard rumors that glastron still has the plastic side emblems in stock but I haven't contacted them to confirm. I may still have the "G" emblem that went on the glove box door under the dash.

    Hey Guys, thanks for the resource info! Nitro, if you want to sell those items, let me know by messenger and we'll deal.

    I will post progress and discoveries here as I go for the next restoration seeking member. I want to try some vacuum bagging with epoxy and composite transom material on this one. Again, Big Thanks for the links - the seat information was in one of those sites! Gordon

    Well, not so pretty now.......the last attempt at restore in the 2014~2015 period (shown above) has turned out to be a disappointing one. I guess I shouldn't be complaining since my plan was to do it myself with 100% new materials. Sad though that they pulled the cap off and sprayed chopper gun glass over the original plywood transom and rotten stringers (especially the last 2 feet near the stern). Blue and pink insulation panels were stuffed around the original fir stringers under the wet plywood flooring. I didn't see any signs of sealer/coating on the underside of the 1/2 plywood floor that had been replaced. While they chopper gun sprayed at least 1/16" ~ 1/8" all over the top of the flooring and stringers - they failed to coat the underside and rot was evident at all of the plywood's edges. This boat has an "open" keel void that is designed to allow water to escape and be drained and as such, they should have water-proofed the underside too. Some of these were taken this evening when it was getting dark and drove me into the house....

    Here are some cleaner photos of the hull - still have a lot to do inside. I hope to get this hull on the ground this weekend and then kneel inside so I can reach the stringer beds and grind away all signs of the old stringers. Then I've got to make a hull jig so I can start the structural build and be sure I've got a "straight" boat.....Gordon
