2.4 misfiring at low rpm/ feels gutless
My 2.4 200 isn't running good at all and I'm lost as to what it might be. I have a hard time getting it started and it doesn't want to idle at first, if I let off the throttle it dies. It misfires at idle and low rpm and takes FOREVER to get on plane. Once i'm up it just feels gutless. I've replaced the fuel filter, rectifier, switch boxes, rebuilt the carbs, fuel line, fuel pump, and regulator. Only thing I can think of would be the stator. Is there anything else I can check/replace before I replace that? I have a couple parts motors so swapping parts is no big deal.

I had similar issue recently. Finally narrowed down to some of the Boyenson reeds were not closing fully. Drove up to Chris Carson and bought new reeds and stuffers from him. He took time to explain installation process thoroughly. Great guy BTW. Motor now runs perfect. Good luck.

I checked the reeds when I had the carbs off and they all look good. 4 petal front. I'll do a compression check when I get home, I don't have a leak down tester but I will borrow one. I plan to take it to the lake today after I swap stators. I'm also going to bring an extra coil if the stator doesn't solve it.

That motor should have 5 pedal unless been changed out , which 4 pedal better neway, have u looked at flywheel magnets?, do u know if its fire or fuel?
Fuel pump can flood #5 and make run like chit if diaphragm bad

I changed my stator with what looked like a brand new one, changed spark plugs and swapped a good coil around and nothing. At idle under load it runs fine but anything over 12-1500 rpms and it starts to misfire and it keeps misfiring up until I get to max rpm at 4500. Would a bad magnet in my flywheel cause this? It’s the only other thing I can think of. It has a 260 flywheel but I have a stock I could throw on it

Do u still have manual pump on motor?
Also do not count out switch box just yet , its common to get a shiity one , or maybe trigger, once the trigger/throttle is advanced the wires mite b making contact and losing it again , been known a trigger will work in one spot and if throttle is advanced not work in another , have u run it on hose with timing lite hooked.up? Pulled plugs after it runnin bad? Which cyl is it

No manual pump was removed when I bought the motor. I have not replaced the trigger but I will look at that tomorrow. Also I haven't put a timing light on it but I didn't think the timing would be bad considering it ran fine for 3 years until now. I believe it is cylinder #6 and is missing but not 100% confident.
