    28 Trophy - additional vents?

    Allison SS2000 with Gen 2 200XS, 1.75 gears

Hole shot is great with 24 Drag 4 and stock 26 Trophy. It was slow to 2000 rpm with the Trophy until I pulled the vents and the ring sealing the hub to the bullet.

I have a 28 Trophy. It ran great when I had a 225 Promax. So far it's my fastest prop with my 200XS, but even with nothing plugged it's slow to 2000 rpm. Would more venting help it slip a bit?

I have a 28 Hydromotive T4X that is much better off idle. And the T4X may run as fast, I just haven't tried raising the lift with the T4X.

More work on the Trophy or sell it?

2000 is just above high idle? why is rpm under 2000 important at all? im barely moving at 1500 with a trophy. im confused i guess...

I drilled a 3/8 hole above my original vents, helped tremendously but I also have cut exhaust tuner so not much coming out the prop.

promax had 1.87 to 1 gears vs the 1.75's you have now...That would make a difference, especially when planing out.

1.75 gears, 700 rpm idle, exhaust vents in the snout adds up to over hub props work better. I ran a 28 Hoss Triton today and it planed fine. 87 mph with the jackplate as low as it will go, 90 raised about 3/16. Hardly any steering at speed. Maybe I will sell the 28 Trophy.

93 with the Trophy. The motor was pretty high on the jackplate. Steve Smith worked the Trophy for me when I had a 225 Promax and it was always a fast prop. 90 with the Hoss at a more conservative engine height is enough if I'm smart.

The guy who designed the trophy, needs to get a trophy! they are fast. mine is a plane jane ebay and keeps up with my [race] props. at 1/4 price. 93 thats insane. they make a special surfacing cone 4 the flo-torq trophy/combo. i needed it to stop wobble, at 80, jacked up.

I can't tell if you guys are talking about a 4 blade Trophy Plus, or regular trophy.

So far best I've done is 91.7 with my 28" Trophy Plus. That was into the wind and not necessarily maxed out, so probably some more to be had with it.

Just got a new 28" Eagle 4 delivered, hopefully be able to compare them soon.

I have two Trophy props. My 26 Trophy might be a Plus. It has more cup than my 28. Or maybe Steve took out some cup when he tuned the 28 for my SS2000. I think the 26 is stock. Neither was advertised as a Plus when purchased. Both are flow torque and small hub.

When I had my 28 trophy worked by DAH they told me they prefered to work the 27 as it is a different prop and much better to make run. I said really they look identical but they said no they are not. Take their word for it. I dont see it but they know much more than me.
